What the foam inside your sofa is tested for

The foam inside our cushions is certified to CertiPUR-US® — an independent testing and certification program specifically for flexible polyurethane foam used in furniture and bedding.

In plain terms: the foam has been lab-tested for what it’s made of, what it releases into the air, and how well it holds up over time. It meets strict standards for low emissions and is made without a defined list of harmful substances.

The Technical Details

For those who want the specifics, CertiPUR-US® certified foam is independently verified to be:

• Made without ozone depleters, formaldehyde, mercury, lead, and other heavy metals.
• Made without phthalates regulated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and meets the CPSC toy standard for lead content.
• Screened for flame-retardant chemicals classified as carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxins.
• Low-VOC: emissions of total volatile organic compounds are measured using a standardized chamber test (foam is conditioned 72 hours, then tested) and must come in under 0.5 parts per million — a threshold that matters for indoor air quality.
• Independently and repeatedly tested: certification isn’t a one-time check. Foam is tested twice in its first year and re-certified annually after that, with random on-site plant visits to verify ongoing compliance.

Worth knowing: CertiPUR-US® certifies the foam itself, not the entire finished piece of furniture. That’s exactly why we pair it with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification on our fabric — so both what’s inside and what’s outside are independently verified.

A Note on Labeling

Our foam is tested and certified at the factory level before it’s built into your sofa. As a young brand, our current inventory doesn’t yet carry a physical CertiPUR-US® tag on the product itself — but the certification applies to the materials in every unit we sell, and our certificate is a

vailable for review below. We’re working with our factories to add on-product tags to future runs.
